The fight against weeds

You may be surprised to learn that weeds are not a separate category of plants. Normally, weeds refer to the types of plants that grow quickly, are difficult to remove and are a nuisance. But whether a plant is a burden is subjective. Some people will label nettle as a weed, while others like to make soup from it and don’t want to miss the plant in their garden. What is a weed to one person may not be to another. In any case, removing weeds is the most thankless job in gardening.

Prevent weeds
Prevention is of course better than cure. Covering the soil between the plants can help with this. When using shells, bark or ground cover plants, there is no more room for weeds. Under gravel you can use an anti-root cloth, which weeds cannot get through. To prevent weeds between tiles, it is best to sweep once a week. That way, starting weeds don’t get a chance to grow further. Hoeing the soil regularly is also effective at niping weed growth in the bud. Weeds on the lawn often come from mowing too short. Ornamental grass should be at least 3 cm high and grass that is played on 4 cm. Comb food for your lawn also helps to prevent bare spots where weeds will seize their chance.
